In a 4 week period, webtext.com has received 2 awards for innovation. The company, which is headquartered in Ireland with offices in the United States, has been recognised by the Irish Technology Leadership Group (ITLG) and Galway Chamber of Commerce.

Webtext.com has been chosen as winner of the prestigious 2011 award for eBusiness Innovation by Galway Chamber of Commerce. Webtext.com CEO AJ Cahill accepted the award on behalf of the company and said “We have always taken pride in our ability to innovate relentlessly to provide users with rapid and targeted access to their customer base and to deliver this service with zero costs for set up and support.”

Hot on the heels of this honour, the company was selected by the ITLG as one of the finalists for the closed door Investor Workshops at the 2011 ITLG “Silicon Valley Comes to Ireland” event. The company had the opportunity to present to the ITLG delegation, including representatives of the investment arms of key multinational technology companies such as Cisco, AT&T & Intel.

The ITLG is an independent organization comprised of a number of high-level Irish or Irish-American technology leaders based in Silicon Valley. The next step in the process is the announcement in Spring 2012 of a short list of just 10 companies who will travel to Stanford for the 5th Annual ITLG/Irish Times Silicon Valley Awards in Spring 2012.

webtext.com, an innovative provider of business messaging and related services based in Ireland, is to open a U.S. office in Silicon Valley, California, hosted by the Irish Innovation Centre (IIC).

webtext.com has grown its business in Ireland and the UK dramatically since start-up just 2 years ago. But CEO AJ Cahill now recognises “If we are serious about reaching our objective of being the number one business messaging provider world-wide, the company must break into the U.S. market. The Silicon Valley office is a logical next step, providing the perfect base for expansion. The IIC programme makes this possible.” webtext.com will leverage their U.S. presence to build relationships with leading enterprise software providers and telecom operators.

The webtext.com service is cost effective, time effective and easily operated. It will connect seamlessly into existing back-office enterprise applications to provide SMS, voice, IM messaging and presence capabilities. No specialist training is needed; an existing customer database can be uploaded in minutes. Businesses benefit by having fast, traceable and unambiguous communication directly to their clients’ pockets, generating quantifiable response rates.

The webtext.com team take pride in their ability to respond rapidly to the bespoke requirements of their client base. No other specialist supplier has emerged who can deliver such rapid and targeted access to a customer base with zero costs for set up, service and support.

The IIC enables Irish entrepreneurs to establish a foothold in the heart of Silicon Valley, CA, and from there to access finance, customers, suppliers and staff needed to grow their enterprise.

The word is out that many of the bulk SMS providers are having problems sending to O2 Ireland customers (about 30% of the Irish market).

O2 is filtering all alpha numeric Sender ID’s of providers who are not paying O2 fees – this means your company name tag (on every SMS you send) will be blocked or the message itself will not be delivered. Not great for business.

If YOUR supplier is having this problem, contact us now at sales@webtext.com or phone 01-2479000.

We will get you up and running quickly – our services are totally unaffected by this move by O2.

The fastest way of sending SMS text messages to groups of people is to text from a computer , this is because your phone can only send about 10 messages per minute, however when you send SMS from a computer you can sent between 10 to 50 messages per second or 600 to 3000 messages per minute.

How can people I contact automatically opt-out or remove themselves?

This is a question we get asked a lot. The simple answer is that if you send a 2-way message and the person replies STOP then they will be automatically removed from your account. If you try and add this contact number again by uploading a spreadsheet or csv file then our system we prevent this contact number from being uploaded. This is done to prevent you uploading the person in error. To upload them again you will need to add them manually as a single contact.

If you want to remove a person manually but block or “blacklist” them from getting a message from your account again. Then just delete the contact but tick the option “Add to blacklist”.

We have already marked many of the schools and non-profit groups at these low rates.

The reason we are doing this, is quite simple, it is good for business. As it spreads word of our service and unique features very quickly.

If you are a non-profit group and are not getting these “at cost” discount rates then let us know and we will change the pricing on your account.

Example “at cost” discount rates for schools & non-profit groups in the UK & Ireland.

UK – 5 euro cents per message or 4.5 pence per message

Ireland – 2.88 euro cents per message

So if you are a school or non-profit group let us know and we will give you these incredible rates.

note: All prices are excluding V.A.T. and these rates are not available to businesses.

It was not by accident webtext.com was invited to address the Business Continuity Institute forum in Dublin, Ireland last week, we were invited:-). The Business Continuity Institute is a British based organization focused on keeping businesses going when things for wrong.

It was interesting to meet with people from various companies who work each day in the hope that their work, expertise and planning is never used. We made the point the while a business may never have a problem continuing because of a major incident, it will have challenges continuing unless it adapts and differentiates itself from it’s competitors.

SMS text messaging can help a business “continue” by providing information to customers as it comes available in real-time and changing the way a business interacts with it’s customers. In do so it will change the way customers feel about a company.
